Field Notes

Habitat:

Dome-shaped nest in a hanging flower pot, patio under back deck.

Notes:

I found this wren nest with five little speckled eggs in it and kept monitoring it as the chicks hatched and the parents cared for them. The female incubated the eggs, leaving the nest occasionally. Both parents cared for the chicks. They were busy all day bringing food and carrying away the chicks' droppings. All of the chicks fledged. Wrens are probably my favorite backyard birds, so it was a real treat to watch this little family!
