Description:

is an annual herb, It grows to a height of 60–100 cm (2.0–3.3 ft), and is bristly or hairy all over the stems and leaves; the leaves are alternate, simple, and 5–15 cm (2.0–5.9 in) long. The flowers are complete, perfect with five narrow, triangular-pointed petals. Flowers are most often blue in color

Notes:

Traditionally borage was cultivated for culinary and medicinal uses, although today commercial cultivation is mainly as an oilseed. The seed oil is desired as source of gamma-linolenic acid.
Borage is sometimes indicated to alleviate and heal colds, bronchitis, and respiratory infections, and in general for its anti-inflammatory and balsamic properties

Beautiful flower, picture and spotting; its colors are amazing =) And they get to be really tall 60-100 cm, wow! It must be really nice to see them.

creo que se refiere justo a eso, que son un poco insipidas y tal, por tanto su caldo más! y de ahi que se use la expresión para referirse, a algo sin importancia, bueno, esa es mi sensación

yes, here in Alicante it's very tipical to eat them, boiled or in a pie, and yes, are very healthy and cheap! you just have to walk around some fields to collect them!

We still eat them here, in Madrid, in the Autonoma University campus, we sometimes get boiled "borrajas" for the first plate. A bit tasteless but very healthy, I guess.
