Description:
Shown are caterpillars for the Genista Broom Moth. Smooth bodied orange with black and white regularly spaced markings. Head and legs black. Long hairs coming off body from dark spots are white.
Habitat:
Host plant is considered to be French Broom. That and other woody perennials (such as honeysuckle) are favored foods for the caterpillars, which do both fully eat and skeletonize the leaves.
Notes:
While they do damage, these caterpillars typically don't harm plants to the point of killing them - only very young or already sick plants are in real danger from these feasters!
