Field Notes

Description:

Red squirrels can be easily identified from other North American tree squirrels by their smaller size, territorial behavior and reddish fur with a white venter (under-belly). (wikipedia)

Habitat:

The diet of these tree squirrels is specialized on the seeds of conifer cones.
Boreal coniferous and mixed forest is the most important habitat. It could be spotted in parks and towns with old enough trees.

Notes:

That one was sighted on top of Sulphur Mountain, Alberta, above the tree limit, most certainly attracted by the human food.
