Description:
Small yellow sessile violet. Small leaves in bloom that will later expand to 3" ovals with a cordate base. The larger leaves at first confused early botanists who did not associate the larger leaves with these tiny flowers and named them separate species in 1803. This confusion was rectified in 1822.

Notes:
Found on the South end of Holden's Old Valley trail where it descends back into Pierson Creek Valley on a North facing slope.
