sludge worm, or sewage worm
Annelida; Tubifex
36.4223, -79.7878
Field Notes
Description:
Very thin red segmented worm. The worms were creeping up from the mud letting their bodies float in the water. Look below the green blade of grass in the picture to find the small red worm coming from the mud, in the water.
Habitat:
Temperate Forrest; These worms were found in a shallow puddle of water in the corner of a bottom field located in a flood plane next to a creek.
Notes:
I know the worms are hard to see in the pictures, but I suspect these are a type of Annelid more specifically I think they are Tubifex. However, I do not know what they are for sure, but I will add links and tags if I get some help identifying.
