Field Notes

Description:

Scores of these birds live in and around this camp-site.
There is a huge isolated population of these in central and southern Iberia, which is thought to have been introduced many centuries ago from China or Japan when early explorers were first making contact with the far East.
These are adult birds, juveniles will be in my next spotting.

Habitat:

Camp site on wooded mountain slope on the edge of Despeñaperros natural park in the Sierra Morena mountain range.
