Field Notes

Description:

A large feline with tawny fur and short, bobbed tail.

Habitat:

Backyard. We live in a wooded area which also has a considerable amount of farms and fields.

Notes:

This gorgeous creature crossed the backyard fairly early this morning and continued on down the driveway. It was moving quite fast and, fortunately, chose to cross the road to the woods on the other side at a time when traffic was absent.

We have lived here almost 42 years; this was the first time we have ever seen a bobcat! The quality of these photos is not great; there was no time to check the settings on the camera.

Wow that's beautiful, Elaine.
I bet so! I would have been running to get the camera too :) Glad you were able to get some photos of it!
It was a huge surprise to see this gorgeous creature padding down the driveway, AsheleyT!
Very cool to see a bobcat in your yard after so long! I would love to see one in my yard :)
