Species ID Suggestions

Thanks for checking. I would not dare to suggest an ID based on this spotting from Pakistan. I think Catocala sp. is already a good deal ;-)...
Karen and bayucca are certainly correct. This is most definitely a Catocala sp. I don't think Catocala pudica or Catocala nupta is the species you have found here, though they are similar. Excellent find!
My closest guess is Erebidae, Erebinae, Catocalini and Catocala sp.. I think it is very tricky to almost impossible to get a safe ID for this one, since reports from Pakistan a very rare. I only found one from Tadjistikan, Catocala pudica, which is also reported from Pakistan. http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Taxbrowser_Taxonpage?taxid=210056. Another similar and common one would be Catocala nupta, but I am not sure about the range. http://www.lepiforum.de/webbbs/images/f1_2010/pic60704.jpg
thanx Karen I'll search for it but its going to take some time since this one resembles many of the ones shown at the bottom of the link page
This is an underwing moth. Try search Catocala species for your region http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catocala
