Description:

White mouth and fangs. Cottonmouths aren't supposed to be here!

Notes:

This was found on the pavement of the parking lot about an acre from a wooded pond.

Eastern ratsnake (juvenile)

Pantherophis alleghaniensis

Hi there. This is a harmless ratsnake and not a cottonmouth. As for cottonmouths, they ARE in North Carolina but I don't know if they are found in your part of the state. http://herpsofnc.org/cottonmouth/
