Description:

This translucent jellyfish has a diameter of 10 - 13 inches and weighs more or less 1 - 2.5 kg. During the transition period of rainy season to dry season, hundreds of these dead jellyfish are washed ashore by the high tide. Some local fisher folks gather some of these and make them into a chilled salad - a good appetizer and a perfect partner for alcoholic beverages.

Habitat:

Not so sure , maybe tropical seas.

Hard to tell exactly what kind of jellyfish, but this definitely belongs to an order called Rhizostomae, which don't have tentacles. It's difficult to ID it further than that since it looks distorted floating on the surface like that, but I am thinking something like Catostylus mosaicus or Mastigias papua. Hope this helps in narrowing down your search!
