Description:

about 2" tall. saw maybe 3 or 4, several inches apart. cute pointy caps.

Habitat:

growing up out of the ground/leaf litter in the woods

Notes:

My sister found these while we were on a walk together. Made my day! :)

Volvariella bombycina

Looks like a member of the genus Entoloma in my opinion.
Thank you, tomato.glasgow, for your suggestion. However, according to http://www.mushroomexpert.com/volvariella_bombycina.html the silky volvaria should have an unlined margin and be growing on wood. Neither is the case with my mushroom.
