Field Notes

Description:

Black plumage with brown neck in female, white streaking often seen in feathers of upper wings, yellow beak with small pouch on bottom beak. This one is drying its feathers. The Anhinga is a diving bird that can stay submerged longer than most other birds as it has little oil on its feathers, which means it has to dry after fishing before it can fly!
