Description:

Arnica cordifolia of the Asteracea family is
commonly known as heart leaf Arnica. It is a perennial plant with opposite, heart-shaped leaves that appear half way up the stem. It is topped with one or more a daisy-like bright yellow flower heads. Seeds are dispersed by the wind. The individual plant may live to 10-15 years, and it may even survive wild land fire.

Habitat:

Arnica cordifolia is native to Western North America. Arnica is found in both mountain meadows and forests of oak, Douglas fir, and pine.

Notes:

Arnica is used topically as plant medicine in salves and liniments to treat bruises, strains and sprains. It is also a common homeopathic remedy. Eating arnica can be dangerous, as it can cause severe intestinal damage.
