Field Notes

Description:

Two chaetgonaths are pictured side by side, with their heads to the left and tails in bright spot on the right. Mostly transparent but outline is distinct in the image.

Habitat:

These were found as part of a plankton tow in Kaneohe Bay, near Moku O Lo‘e (Coconut Island).

Notes:

We must have sampled a plankton bloom as the tow was filled with brownish-green "stuff" caught in a 80 micron mesh nest. We had to sieve out the green stuff with a larger mesh sieve to isolate the larger zooplankton. After sieving we found a high number of chaetognaths.
