Description:

These baboons are so scared of the water, there was a hippo close by and every time it made a sound they JUMPED away from the water. They know what lurks in the African waters. It was the funniest wildlife experience of my life. They found some "comfort" drinking behind the bark there... But the fear in those faces...

Notes:

They were up and down and up and down. Took a lot of courage to be the first to take a sip... man this was entertaining!

Thanks Joshua and Willie, it really was so funny! I suppose serious to them! Survival of the fittest and all..
No problem. I'm learning to study this stuff for a living, so I love the extra practice identifying species. Nice photo series too!
that's great news, thank you very much. I will definitely make that change on the ID.
They are also known as Cape Baboons.
There are several species of baboon. Since you are in South Africa, and by looking at their faces and physiques, I determined that they are chacma baboons, native to southern Africa. I study primatology.
Thank you Gina, I've decided to go with "Baboon" as there are confusing terms out there in general, it is the scientific terms that are different, and I think the one I chose is the "african" baboon?
