Field Notes

Notes:

Dinner seemed to be a duck. Several hours later we returned to this site and saw that the area below this perch was strewn with remains of fish, ducks, crabs and some unidentified animal parts. We saw 3 immature eagles on this perch, but not eating, as well as 2 adult Bald Eagles in the vicinity. This is on a spit of land that goes almost across Drayton Harbour, Washington.

Thanks, LandmarkExpert! It was an amazing time. I have so many photos of this bird.
Thanks, OnengDyah. It was very educational. We examined all the debris at the bottom of the tree and found an amazing array of body parts from fish, ducks and shellfish.
Nice Treat ...
I decided to put this spotting under Watch for Wildlife mission too as these eagles were keeping a close watch on the flocks of wintering ducks and that should mean a healthier population to leave for breeding grounds this spring. Also we saw here that eagles have a varied diet, including fish and shellfish.
