Lovely skipper Larry! Please can you edit the title to remove "moth", thanks!
Yes, not a moth, but a skipper. Phocides sp. for sure and it is Phocides belus.
I initially thought it was a moth until I looked deeper. I will remove it now.
Larry, is this a moth, or a butterfly? I am guessing by the clubbed antennae, it is a butterfly. If this is a butterfly, could you please remove this from my mission, Moths of the Americas, as it focuses solely on moths. Thanks so much for understanding, and what a beautiful find! It unfortunately looks like it became part of someone's dinner.
Thanks for the hint Liam. I I had no idea! I think that this is definitely the Phocoides...without a doubt. However, I am leaning more towards the belus...
Phocoides sps., presumably Phocoides pialia: http://www.butterfliesofamerica.com/L/phocides_p_pialia_types.htm
