Description:

This a medium size heron with a diagnostic yellow neck-stripe; male has dull black upperparts; buff streaks on the throat; rufous-streaked, black and grey belly
Female paler than male, with more yellowish wash on underparts. Immature are more streaked
Photo taken at Keoladeo National Park, Rajasthan, India

Habitat:

Reed beds with bushes and bushy margins of canals, rivers and Jheels (ponds)
