Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Keferstein's Tree Frog, this tree frog is a member of the family Hylidae. Native to coastal eastern Australia, from SE Queensland, to around Eden in southern New South Wales. It's only a small frog, and this fellow was probably no more than 4-5 cms in length.

Habitat:

This frog is associated with coastal lagoons, ponds and swamps, in heathland, sclerophyll forest and cleared farmland. This spotting, even though found in a house, was very close to a coastal lagoon and dense native bushland with lush undergrowth. In the yard there were tree ferns, ground ferns, and banana palms.

Notes:

Awful interior lights combined with insect lights outside made it almost impossible to get any sense of its true colour. I've done my best to edit out some weird colours.
