Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized goshawk (40-55cm). Males have a slate coloured back and head with rufous collar and barring over breast and down to vent. Bright yellow eye and legs. Females slightly bigger and generally more brown in colour. This image shows an adult male.

Habitat:

Throughout Australia.

Notes:

Two races present in Australia. Race didimus considered an endemic and found in the interior of the continent.
