Field Notes

Description:

Likely a young cactus. Short, round, white, and soft spines. We kept calling it marshmallow cactus but don't know the actual name. There were many around.

Habitat:

On a rocky slope in the desert at Black Gap WMA.

Thanks Matt! It was really cool getting to see all the different kinds of cactus, and this one was one of the more intriguing ones since it was so tiny and soft!
It looks like a wheel wrapped in some kind of fabric. Nice spotting Ashley!
