Congrats! Your cabbage spotting is featured as a PN Fun Fact! Project Noah Fun Fact: Cabbage belongs to the cruciferous vegetable group along with other cole plants like broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. It is believed to have been domesticated in Europe before 1000 B.C., but the savoy cabbage, like seen in the photograph, did not appear until the 16th century. It is a biennial plant, but is picked in the first year for the compact head of leaves. If seed is desired, it is left until the second year and kept separate from other cole crop plants or it will cross pollinate.
