Field Notes

Description:

A snake that is active day and night depending on climate. Colour ranges from light to dark olive/brown with intricate markings and patches of darker and lighter colouring over entire body scales, can grow to more than 3m in leangth. colour and patterns vary with individuals and regions. Can be aggressive, non-venomous but small teeth can cause damage, constricts prey to kill it before eating.

Habitat:

found throughout eastern Queensland and NSW, often lives in roof of buildings and farm sheds where there is an easy meal of mice, poultry and small farm inhabitants, naturally occurs in rainforest, woodlands and more open areas such as heath country.
