Field Notes

Description:

An abandoned "log-cabin" case of a New Guinea species of casemoth (bagworm moth), family Psychidae.

Habitat:

Typically I see these on Bougainvillea but this specimen was observed on the fruiting structure of a palm tree. Found in in a large semi-urban yard & garden adjacent to a disturbed remnant patch of forest in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
