Description:

Catocala puerpera is a moth of the Erebidae family. It is found in Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean areas of the Near East and Middle East and in North Africa.
There is one generation per year. Adults are on wing from May to June. This pictured adult (probably near the end of its fluttered days) was one of the many that flied in the grounds and the forest surrounding a local monastery in Othrys mountain, Greece.
