Field Notes

Description:

Distinctive perennial, lacking chlorophyll. Leaves oval and scale-like. Flowers yellow and 30-40mm long; borne in tall, dense spikes, March-June.

Habitat:

Favours dry sandy or stony ground; parasitic on saltworts, goosefoots and their relatives. Local to Southern Iberia and parts of East Mediterranean.
