Description:
They are widespread in the eastern United States, and are social parasites of true bumble bees, displacing a resident queen in a nest and recruiting the workers to raise her offspring. They resemble true bumble bees but lack pollen-carrying structures on their hing legs. (per Kenn Kaufman)
