Field Notes

Description:

Cap 3-8cm across, funnel-shaped often with a wavy margin, pale pinkish buff to ochre, silky smooth. Stem 30-80x 5-10mm, pale buff, tough and slightly swollen towards the base. Flesh whitish to buff. Smell faint and sweet. Gills decurrent, crowded, whitish. Spore print white. Spores pip-shaped, 6-7 x 3.5-4.5. Habitat in deciduous woodland or on heaths. Season summer to late autumn. Common. Edible.

Habitat in deciduous woodland or on heaths. Spotted in Seih-Sou, the suburban, mainly pine (pinus brutia) forest of Thessaloniki, Greece.
