Description:
Juniper berries are blue and used to flavor gin. It is a shrub and rarely grows more than 2 feet. It does spread to its sides with tough stems. They are evergreens and very sharp-pointed. Very valuable for wildlife as they provide shelter and food. Also help prevent erosion on slopes and old fields.
Notes:
An aggressive colonizer of old fields, cut-over woods, and rocky mountaintops.
