Field Notes

Description:

Papilionidae; Papilioninae; Papilionini; Papilio demoleus demoleus Linnaeus, 1758. This subspecies is also known by the synonym Papilio demoleus libanius Fruhstorfer, 1908.

Habitat:

This Common Lime was spotted visiting flowers in our front yard.

Notes:

It is relatively easy to differentiate males and females of this subspecies if you have a dorsal view, but as you can see, I only managed views of the underside of the wings. So, I don't know if the butterfly in my photos is male or female.
