Field Notes

Description:

Nymphalidae; Nymphalinae; Cyrestini; Cyrestis maenalis maenalis Erichson 1834. Pictures (from left to right) 1 & 2 show the same specimen. Pictures 3 & 4 show a different specimen. However, they were spotted just a few yards apart and, having checked carefully, I am certain that they belong to the same subspecies.

Habitat:

Spotted in foliage at the side of a narrow track. The area is sparsely populated and mostly covered by remnants of tropical forest.
