Just a peek of orange...really neat bird!
Cool! If I visit, I will keep one eye open...
We also have Yowie's (like bigfoot) but the Drop Bears help thin their numbers.
Haha!!! That is hysterical! They are so serious about it! I've heard of similar mythical creatures such as the Nandi Bear.
Sorry buddy. I just couldn't help myself. It's an urban myth that's meant to terrify the tourists and amuse the locals. http://australianmuseum.net.au/drop-bear There's also an official warning from the Australian Government's Department of Dangerous Fauna Management, and they use the catch cry "Look up. Stay alive!!" Best advice I can give you is "beware the locals." You know they're weird when even govt. departments get in on the joke.
It's worth the trip, Josh. Beware the drop bears though.
Your so lucky! They are too cool. I gotta visit some day
I have 2 tawnies nesting in my yard at the moment. My faves too. Aust and NZ are good choices. Excellent spotting by the way, Austin.
If had to pick any 2 countries to visit, they would probably be New Zealand and Australia. I also love cassowaries, keas, and kiwis!
I agree! They are fascinating birds. Oh yeah Tawny Frogmouths are super cool! One of a million reasons to visit Australia
Epic! I love nightjars and related birds. My all time favorite bird is actually the Tawny Frogmouth.
