Field Notes

Description:

The females have a body length up to 11 mm. The legs are light with dark patches at the joints. It has an oak leaf-like pattern on the abdomen. While they are known for their orb webs, the egg sac itself is often placed in a secure location, sometimes hidden in vegetation or other safe spots. The spider did not move while i was taking pictures so i think it will guards the egg sac diligently until the spiderlings hatch.

Habitat:

Unused lot with high grass.
