Description:
The word anhinga comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird.
The A. anhinga is a large bird that measures approximately 89 cm in length, with 1.14 m wingspan.
They weigh on average 1.22 kg. The beak is relatively long, sharp and pointed, used to pierce the body of their prey, usually fish.
