Field Notes

Description:

This snail's shell is about 2 cm and was found in a large shady and rocky canyon near a running spring. I believe this belongs to either the Eremarionta or Maricopella genus. The ability to withstand extreme heat and dessication gives desert snails incredible recognition. Though I have yet to find a living snail in its shell.

Habitat:

I found this shell in a shady canyon under a rock ledge. There were wild nettles and desert grape plants near by.
