Field Notes

Description:

Found this approximately 12mm long shiny green beetle in a closed punnet of blueberries at my local supermarket. The label (see last photo) says that they were grown in France.

Notes:

It had been in the fridge for a few days, and I'd already eaten most of the blueberries without discovering it! It revived after a little while, but it's still very sluggish. I'd like to feed it something, but I don't know what.

Oh, that's great! I searched a little and found that A. dubia is better match than A. vitis...:)
On kerbtier.de they said it could be Anomala dubia - there are apparently green variants, and A. dubia is definitely found in Western Europe (both Germany and France).
Hmm... could be. Looks just like it, but I see on http://www.faunaeur.org/full_results.php?id=247262 that A. vitis lives in Eastern Europe, and there's no info on whether it's also found in Germany or France. I've submitted some photos to kerbtier.de as well to see what they think.
Anomala vitis? http://www.biolib.cz/en/image/id84926/ I'm not sure...
