Eastern collared lizard
Crotaphytus collaris
39.3257, -96.6169
Field Notes
Description:
A quick, fat lizard with a clubbed tail (On the end). Reddish orange sides and bottom. Between 6-9 inches long.
Habitat:
Rocky terrain amidst the Flint Hills of Kansas. It seemed to enjoy being around Native Grass and hiding under large flat rocks.
Notes:
It had a very "tough" attitude and wasn't afraid to flaunt its large mouth when I approached it with a Camera. Not sure if the club on the end of its tail is a deformity or normal.
