Field Notes

Notes:

I found this amphibian (frog) hopping across the road one night in October on my way home. The road has some standing water on either side with cattails and other flora growing beside it.

Marta-Blue Sanskrit, eh? "-) Thank you! The web site says they can change their colors to better match their environment so they're chameleon-like in that respect and in my mind, very cool amphibians. :-)))
Looks like she has writings on her back. Nice colors!
marylou-Thank you soooo much!! based on what I read I'll have to go with the Eastern Gray Treefrog but neither shows up here, on their "maps" so...its a shot in the dark but closer than I could have come on my own. "-)))
It's either an Eastern Gray Treefrog (Hyla versicolor) or a Cope's Gray Treefrog (Hyla chrysoscelis). They are visually indistinguishable in areas where their ranges overlap. The call is the only way to determine for sure! http://eol.org/pages/331209/overview http://eol.org/pages/1019233/overview
