Description:

This unique flowering plant is in the carrot family (Apiaceae). Aka Fernleaf Desert-parsley has two flowering varieties dark purple and yellow. Consists of several rays with a flower cluster. Grows 2-5 ft tall with basal leaves that resemble ferns.

Habitat:

Spotted in a transitional area from sagebrush steppe to open pine forest.

Notes:

Lots of medicinal uses. From Wikipedia: A Lomatium dissectum root extract completely inhibited the cytopathic effects of rotavirus. It also showed antibiotic activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium.
