Field Notes

Description:

Figs are ripening late summer into fall here in Virginia.

Habitat:

Sunny location, against our garden shed, facing southeast. We water when gets too dry with rainwater that we collect in covered barrels. Mulched. When winter months arrive will lightly wrap them to help protect from wind damage.

Notes:

They were grown from small plants dug up years ago from my dad's place in Maryland.

Interesting to note, that when figs are fully ripen they will often split open on the end in a 5-p.oint star pattern

Hi Cheryl, they do look delicious! Dp you have any photos of the figs "on the vine"? If you have please can you add them as there is more educational value if we can see them growing than on the plate.
