Field Notes

Description:

About 8mm in length. Head, pronotum, elytra, and legs, reddish and dusted with short white setae. Head and posterior two thirds of elytra are most densely covered. Femurs are least densely covered. Head with thin black medial suture.

Habitat:

Urban garden on grape leaf.

Notes:

The adults feed on grape leaves causing damage in a shotgun pattern. When disturbed the beetles drop off the leaves and play dead.
