Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

This is a cool find. However, this is a species of Meadow Katydid from Tribe Conocephalini. Yours is a female. You can tell because it has an ovipositor (the long, sword-like think that is on the end of her abdomen). The ovipositor is used for laying eggs. Another difference is the antennae. Katydids and Crickets have long, thin, thread-like antennae (like yours), while Grasshoppers have shorter, thicker antennae. I found this website which might help you with a species ID: http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_crickets/Conocephalinae.htm
