Description:

Spotted resting on a buddleia leaf in our back garden. Family: Brushfoots (Nymphalidae) Sub: Emperors (Apaturinae) Wingspan: 5.1 to 6.6cm (2 to 2.6 inch) Above: Dark Amber brown markings - forewing with small white spots and a single black eyespot - hindwing has rows of dark spots. Sexes similar (female has broader wing) Host plant: Hackberry and Sugar berry.

Habitat:

Moist woodland , forest margins - streams - parks and gardens.
