Infested Caterpillar
4.30646, 117.864
Field Notes
Description:
A 34mm long tussock caterpillar parasitised by parasitic wasps. With almost 50 wasp larva cocoons on this insect host, the caterpillar is barely alive. Each pupa is almost 4mm in length.
Habitat:
Forest of Bukit Gemuk (Fat Hill), Tawau, Sabah.
Notes:
>>>Map accuracy: 1000m diameter. Spotted this with Dan during our forest trekking. Since it was starting to rain heavily, Dan brought this caterpillar (with the leaf) to the last wooden hut where we can photograph it under the shelter. This is my first parasitised caterpillar spotting.
