Field Notes

Description:

Resembling the closely-related hooktip moths, the Juniper Geometer, Patalene olyzonaria, usually rests with the tip of the forewing curved slightly upward, more so in the female than the male. The wingspan is quite small, ranging from 21-25 mm.

Habitat:

Juniper ((Juniperus spp.) is the main food plant, though it occasionally feeds on Northern White Cedar (Thuja occidentalis), and perhaps Pine (Pinus sp.).

Notes:

Would love someone to confirm the ID.
Positively phototactic; came to light at night, and was found in the morning hours.
