Field Notes

Description:

I spotted a pair of Kea's that are taking shelter under a shade from the hot summer sun while tramping in the high mountains at the Arthurs Pass National Park at New Zealand's South Island. These two are most likely breeding pairs.

Habitat:

The kea ranges from lowland river valleys and coastal forests up to the alpine regions of New Zealand's South Island.

New Zealand is one my ultimate places to go. The avian diversity is amazing! Great shot of a very cool parrot!
