Yeah it was just laying on the side of a track in the grass. Worried it would be stepped on.

Killdeer are ground-nesting birds and seem to just drop their eggs in a spot and that's all they need. Check out my recent killdeer nest spotting that's on top of a building: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/10505822
