Description:

Marsupial. Give birth to live young, and carries in pouch until old enough to be carried on mothers back.
Feeds on Eucalyptus leaves, and sleeps approx 18-20hrs a day.(partially due to the intoxicating nature of their diet)

Hi Shanna, thanks for the translation! I thought maybe they had a different idea of the Latin name for Koala. Yes, she was tagged (I suspect it was a she due to her size and facial characteristics?), but she was in the wild. I would guess that she is part of a monitored population up in the Gembrook region. Very cute though - and let me walk right up to her.
Hey Tricia, this guy's a cutie. Is that a tag in his ear (is he in a wildlife park or something)? Also, the first time harsuame wrote a comment like that on my spotting, I had to look it up - it means 'beautiful, lovely' in Spanish. : )
