Field Notes

Description:

Black-striped triggerfish ~ 9 inches long.

Habitat:

Tropical nearshore waters.

Notes:

Spotted in about three feet of water just west of Mokuleia Army Beach. Also known as Back-bar Triggerfish. Displayed very aggressive behavior. Swam directly toward me, then stopped about three feet from me and hovered in mid-water before circling away. It repeated this behavior a few more times, and then swam off and hid in a hole.
